Malcam Trust Global - is a Partnership with Rotary District 9980

Trust Global Aid programmes are designed to assist other organisations around the world.  It is with this in mind that we have developed our overseas aid programme as a Life Changing experience for both the recipients and our programme participants.

In January 2008 a group of 7 young people from the Malcam Trust Courses and mentors travelled to Kathmandu Nepal to work alongside local craft and trades people to create a "Garden of Tranquility" for patients in the Cancer Hospital in Bhaktapur this project was supported by Ray Avery from Medicine Mondiale.

This project was between the 12th to the 29th of January 2008.  The trip was an experience for all concerned and all up 14 people from NZ participated.  The garden development was a great success and the challenges faced by all with the lack of equipment and resources was highlighted by the fact that we were indeed in a third world country.  The people were delightful, welcoming and warm and they shared a part of their lives with us during our stay which we will carry for a lifetime - this was indeed a "life changing experience".

All of the students barr one that participated on this trip are now employed or at Polytechnic and the Malcam Charitable Trust and Malcam Charitable Trust Foundation are currently planning another trip to another part of the world for young people participating on our programmes.
